Traveling to exotic countries requires an impressive budget for flights, accommodation, food, and entertainment. But what about national sports on which you can bet on after learning a lot about a particular country and analyzing Tonybet sports predictions for today? Or about games related to certain countries and cultures? It’s much more affordable, even considering the cost of computer components or buying an actual console. For this purpose, both simple browser games and more versatile video games will suit. Here are games where you will be able to visit many real points of the globe in different eras.
Assassin’s Creed Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla
At the beginning of 2024, the series about assassins with a hidden blade has 24 games, and most of them can be recommended for virtual traveling through different locations and eras.
For example, the first part allows you to visit Damascus, Acra, and Jerusalem, the fourth — the Caribbean archipelago, and Syndicate — London of the XIX century. But a special scope of traveling is available in Assassin’s Creed Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla (all three are parts of the same sub-series). In Origins, the vast region of Ancient Egypt is available for exploration, in Odyssey — the Aegean Sea and Hellenistic Greece, and in Valhalla — medieval England, torn by war with the Vikings. Almost all games have a special tourist mode. No battles or quests, just sightseeing.
Euro Truck Simulator 2
In this game, you won’t be able to explore every corner and enter every building, but you can travel all over Europe driving a multi-ton heavy truck. Thousands of kilometers of roads with real traffic (and real problems), variable weather conditions, and picturesque landscapes are waiting for you. In the simulator, there is something to do: you will have to start with renting cars, and then you will become the owner of your own logistics company. At all levels, you need to drive cargo and earn money on it. Custom modifications allow you to drive not only trucks but also cars.
Ghost of Tsushima
Want to travel to Japan? Start with the Ghost of Tsushima. The game offers a trip to the colorful island of Tsushima, but get ready because it won’t be safe. The time of action is the end of the 13th century, when the Land of the Rising Sun was occupied by Mongols.
The protagonist Jin walks around the picturesque locations, fighting with invaders and composing hokku during breaks. The island in the game is presented with attention to the details of the landscape and culture of that era, so you can learn more about the life of medieval Japan.
Yakuza 0
And a little more about Japan. While Ghost of Tsushima focused on the scale and nature of this amazing country, Yakuza 0 focuses on Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1980s. A special “Adventure” mode has been developed for traveling, where players can simply stroll through picturesque streets, talk to non-player characters, shop, and play fun mini-games. You can switch between “Adventure” and the main campaign at any time. In the main mode, players will find two parallel storylines of two different characters, somehow connected with the Yakuza underworld.
Forza Horizon
The Forza Horizon series is famous for its unbelievable level of graphics and beautiful landscapes. These are racing semi-arcade simulators, but in the last two parts, outside of competitive missions, the player is free to drive cool cars all over the game world in free mode.
In Forza Horizon 4, the action takes place in the UK. You can visit Edinburgh, the Lake District, the Cotswold Hills, and many other famous places. In Forza Horizon 5, the world became even bigger and more diverse, and the championship was moved to picturesque Mexico with its hot deserts and tropical jungles, volcanoes, ancient ruins, and modern cities. In the starting mission, you will be shown a selection of local sights, and you will definitely want to explore them all at 300 km/h.
The Crew 2
The Crew 2 is a direct competitor of Forza Horizon, and the developers of this game decided not to limit themselves to any particular city or region. Players can travel and explore the whole territory of the United States of America, from sunny California to New York. There are also Los Angeles, Miami, and Las Vegas, but the list of cities is not limited to them. However, don’t expect that America is represented here in 1:1 scale; otherwise, you would grow old while moving from one racing headquarters to another.
Players will be able to visit dozens of locations on different modes of transportation (cars, planes, boats, and motorcycles), but you won’t be able to travel across the States from edge to edge at once; you’ll have to progress gradually through the sports campaign.
The Saboteur
In The Saboteur, players can explore the beautiful city of Paris during its occupation by the Nazis. Traveling around the French capital is aided by sandbox gameplay: you can do anything, however you want, and when you want.
The protagonist, local car mechanic Sean Devlin, is a member of the Resistance. He fights the Germans, organizes sabotage, and saves people. In between missions, Sean is free to go to the most beautiful places in Paris, such as the Eiffel Tower, Montmartre, Notre Dame, and many others. But note that you will have to enjoy the sights in a monochrome gray filter — this is the author’s style of the game.
