Tower Defense Simulator continues to dominate the Roblox defense genre with regular updates, rebalances, and new content. As troop effectiveness shifts with every patch, it’s important to stay on top of the best towers for defending against waves of zombies, bosses, and beyond.
In this tier list, we’ve broken down all the troops (a.k.a. towers) into seven tiers, from S (meta-defining) to F (practically unusable). There’s also a special Developer Tier for dev-only or removed troops.
🔝 S Tier – God Tier (Meta-Defining)
These towers are essential in high-level games, often forming the core of elite strategies.
-
Ranger – Insane late-game DPS with long range.
-
Golden Minigunner – One of the best burst-DPS towers in the game.
-
Accelerator – Incredible high-speed energy-based damage dealer.
-
Farm – Economic powerhouse. Crucial for getting high-cost units fast.
-
Commander – Must-have for its Call to Arms ability (attack speed buff).
-
DJ Booth – Range boost and cost reduction make this tower indispensable.
-
Turret – High-tech destruction. Solid for mid-to-late game.
🟩 Pro Tip: Always have at least one Commander and DJ Booth in your loadout for buffs.
🟦 A Tier – Very Good (Highly Effective)
Powerful troops that work well in most situations and can carry games in the right comps.
-
Minigunner – Great mid-game DPS; budget alternative to Golden Mini.
-
Golden Cowboy – Gold skin version packs more value than its regular counterpart.
-
Electroshocker – Fantastic for slowing and disrupting enemies.
-
Military Base – Great for vehicle-based defense and stalling early waves.
-
Shotgunner – Strong AoE at close range.
-
Pursuit – Air unit with decent auto-tracking. Scales well in open maps.
-
Gladiator – A fan favorite for early-game shredding.
-
Golden Crook Boss – A tanky summons-based DPS tower.
-
Swarmer – Unique AoE via bees, situational but useful.
🟨 B Tier – Decent (Usable but Situational)
Good for beginners or niche strategies. Not bad, but often outclassed.
-
Militant – Basic DPS, but eclipsed by stronger towers.
-
Ace Pilot – Decent flying unit with support potential.
-
Cowboy – Can generate money, but requires skill to optimize.
-
Mortar – Explosive damage, but inaccurate and clunky.
-
Archer – Good for early-game, weak in late waves.
-
Crook Boss – Balanced, but underwhelming compared to its golden counterpart.
🟧 C Tier – 50/50 (Mediocre)
Heavily outclassed by most higher-tier towers, but can work with upgrades or in specific strategies.
-
Golden Soldier – Gold variant helps slightly, but still weak overall.
-
Medic – Only useful for stun removal; otherwise underwhelming.
-
Frost Blaster – Slows enemies but lacks raw damage or utility.
🟥 D Tier – 45/50 (Poor Picks)
These towers either have outdated kits or are just statistically underpowered.
-
Freezer – Weak freeze effects, limited use.
-
Golden Pyromancer – Gold doesn’t save it from being a bad DPS tower.
-
Rocketeer – Slow reloads and inconsistent AoE.
-
Commando – Removed tower; had strong DPS but now outdated.
⛔ F Tier – Garbage Tier (Not Worth Using)
Don’t waste your cash or placement slots. These are beginner bait.
-
Soldier
-
Scout
-
Sniper
-
Paintballer
-
Demoman
-
Hunter
-
Slasher
🗑️ Why are they here? Poor range, damage, or simply no late-game viability. Most are starter towers with no scalability.
🛠️ Developer Tier – Removed/Dev Only
These are higher than S Tier in theory but are not usable in normal gameplay.
-
Commander (Old)
-
Cowboy (Original Version)
-
Toxic Gunner
-
Outlaw
-
Necromancer (Dev only)
-
Sentry Units
These are usually OP or removed for balance reasons and are kept behind dev access or event locks.
✅ Final Thoughts
The current meta in Tower Defense Simulator favors powerful burst damage and team-wide buffs, especially for hardcore or late-game maps. S-tier towers like Ranger, Accelerator, and DJ Booth are essential, while others like Scout or Sniper are best left in the early-game memories.
