Tips for getting in and out of your power armor
Although rare, it is possible that you get stuck in a physical location when exiting your power armor. For example, if you try to get out while your back is against a wall, you may get stuck in place. Your character model would get stuck between your armor and a hard place, impeding movement. You can usually put your power armor back on from that position. This would allow you to make some headway before trying again for a less awkward exit.
While making sure to avoid the above, you should also place your power armor station in an accessible location. If you place it against a wall or in a confined space, it may get stuck. An open space, indoors or outdoors, would be a better place for your power armor-related activities.
Why do you need to take your character out of power armor?
While wearing power armor, the player character cannot swim. Instead, your character would walk on the bed of a given body of water. You cannot use workbenches to craft items while wearing power armor. Therefore, you will have to take your character out of power armor to perform certain tasks.
Once the fusion core is depleted, your character will still be able to walk slowly in armor, but will be overloaded and unable to use V.A.T.S. or hold your breath when aiming down sights. It is better to break out of Power Armor to find a Fusion Core because you will move faster than in Power Armor without the Fusion Core.
Don’t drop your power armor!
It is dangerous to leave your power armor in camp. If you do, it could be stolen. It will stay in place for a minute if you drop it. The Power Armor Screen will also be available in the near future, making it easier to find.
Your card only follows the last color you left behind; While you can safely drop Power Armor almost anywhere and return to it later, it’s not always possible to return to it. Check where your suits are or just place them in the settlements if you prefer.
