With the launch of the Farm Cosmetics Update on May 24, 2025, Grow a Garden introduced an exciting new way for players to personalize their farms. From charming garden gnomes and wells to elaborate fences, tables, and more, cosmetics offer players the freedom to decorate their plots however they like.
Whether you’re curious about how to obtain these items or want to know how players are making floating decorations, this guide covers everything you need to know about cosmetics in Grow a Garden.
🌻 How to Get Cosmetics in Grow a Garden
There are several ways to collect cosmetics, from purchasing crates to snagging limited-time items during events.
🛍️ 1. Buy Cosmetics from Sam
-
Visit Sam’s Cosmetics Stall, located between the Gear and Pet Eggs shops.
-
Sam’s store offers nine rotating cosmetic items every four hours.
-
You can force a refresh using 79 Robux if you want a new selection sooner.
🎁 Crates in the Cosmetics Shop:
-
Some items come in cosmetic crates, such as the Sign Crate.
-
Example: The Sign Crate costs 55 million Sheckles and can contain one of six unique sign types.
-
Tap the “?” icon next to any crate to view:
-
The full item pool
-
Rarity percentages
-
Your chance to get a specific cosmetic
-
📝 Tip: Be sure to check the contents of a crate before buying—it’s a gamble!
🎉 2. Get Exclusive Cosmetics from Events
Occasionally, Grow a Garden hosts special events that reward exclusive cosmetic items.
-
Example: The Monster Mash World Record Concert rewarded attendees with the Monster Mash Potion Trophy.
-
Other crates appear in shops like the Twilight Shop, where rare crates such as the Twilight Crate or Bloodmoon Crate may appear—often at steep prices (e.g., 120 million Sheckles).
🎯 These crates are limited and may only appear at specific times or during night cycles in-game.
🧰 How to Use Cosmetics in Grow a Garden
Once you’ve obtained a cosmetic item or crate, here’s how to start customizing your farm:
🔧 Open the Cosmetics Inventory
-
Tap the hammer & wrench icon at the top-left corner of your screen.
-
This opens the Cosmetics Inventory (separate from your backpack).
-
While inside your farm, select any item to place it directly in front of your avatar.
🎮 Interact with Placed Items
After placing a cosmetic, click it to open its adjustment tools:
Button | Function |
---|---|
🔁 First | Move: Drag to reposition (resets rotation) |
🎯 Second | Tilt Up/Down: Drag to pitch forward/backward |
↻ Third | Rotate: Spin the object horizontally |
⬅️ Fourth | Tilt Left/Right: Side-to-side rotation |
📦 Fifth | Store: Return the item to your inventory |
📦 Opening Crates:
-
Cosmetic crates must be placed in a farm plot like gear or egg items.
-
Crates take time to open, and the item revealed will be added to your cosmetics inventory.
✨ What Do Cosmetics Do?
Cosmetics are purely decorative. They don’t affect gameplay or boost plant stats like gear items do (e.g., sprinklers or staffs).
Instead, cosmetics allow you to:
-
Build scenic environments
-
Show off wealth or event participation
-
Get creative with layouts and themed gardens
Many players use them to construct elaborate scenes—from cozy farmhouses to floating islands high above their plots.
🧱 Floating Cosmetic Trick
Wondering how players make floating decorations? Here’s how it’s done:
-
Place a crate (or any support block) where you want your item to float.
-
Put the cosmetic on top of it.
-
Once placed, remove the crate or base item, leaving the cosmetic suspended mid-air.
🧠 It’s a visual trick—there’s no gravity for placed cosmetics!
📦 Inventory Limits
-
You can store up to 250 total cosmetics, including placed and unplaced items.
-
You can place up to 60 cosmetics in your garden at a time.
-
Items in stacks still count individually toward your limit.
Keep this in mind before going on a crate-buying spree!
