The Escapists is a strategy game that is viewed from the top down. Following a 2014 Steam Early Access release, the game was made by Mouldy Toof Studios and launched in 2015 for Microsoft Windows, macOS, Linux, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. In 2017, it was made available on iOS and Android. 2018 saw the release of a Nintendo Switch version of the game that included all downloadable content.
On September 23, 2021, the game was released on the Epic Games Store as part of the company’s ongoing free game promotion. Inmates must escape from jails that are increasingly challenging as players take on the character of an inmate.
